Bells, gongs, and marimba bars produce partials that are not whole-number multiples of a fundamental. Pick a preset to load its frequency ratios (shown under each slider), set the partial amplitudes, and press Strike to hear the sound ring and decay. Compare with the harmonic preset and listen for how clear the pitch is.

What to notice: the harmonic preset has an obvious pitch, the stretched piano-like preset still does, the bell has a strike note plus a lingering hum, and the gong and drumhead have no clear pitch at all. Higher partials also die away faster, which is a big part of why a struck sound mellows as it rings.
